It takes much time to kill a tree
একটা গাছকে হত্যা করতে অনেক সময় লাগে।
Not a simple jab of the knife will do it.
ছুরির একটা সাধারণ আঘাত এটা করতে পারবে না।
It has grown slowly consuming the earth.
এটা ধীরে ধীরে বেড়ে উঠেছে মাটির রস টেনে/শুষে নিয়ে।
Rising out of it
মাটির ভিতর থেকে জেগে উঠে,
Feeding upon its crust
এর এর উপরের ত্বক /ভূত্বক থেকে রসদ নিয়ে/খেয়ে,
absorbing years of sunlight, air ,water
বছরের পর বছর সূর্যালোক, বায়ু, জল শোষণ করে,
And out its leprous hide
আর এর খসখসে ছাল থেকে
Sprouting leaves.
উদ্-গত হয়েছে পাতা।
So hack and chop
সুতরাং কোপ মারো এবং কুচি কুচি করে কাটো
But this alone won't (will not) do it.
কিন্তু এতেই শুধু তা করা যাবে না।
(Only hacking and chopping cannot kill a tree.)
Not so much pain will do it.
Pain-hard labour
প্রচুর কষ্টও/(যন্ত্রণা ও)এটা করতে পারবে না।
প্রচুর কষ্ট দিয়েও তাকে মারা যাবে না।
The bleeding bark will heal
রক্তাক্ত ছাল সেরে উঠবে /জুড়ে যাবে।
And from close to the ground
আর মাটির কাছ থেকে।
Will rise curled green twigs
কুঞ্চিত সবুজ ডাল আবার জাগবে/উঠবে।
miniature boughs
অতি ক্ষুদ্র ডালপালা।
Which if unchecked will expand again
যদি ওগুলো প্রতিহত(বাধাপ্রাপ্ত /রুদ্ধ) না করা হয় তাহলে আবার (বাড়তে থাকবে)প্রসারিত হবে।
